What you Need to Know About Applying for a Student Sponsor Licence
In order to enrol international students from around the world, your institution will need to be a registered Student Sponsor, approved by the Home Office. Eligible schools, colleges and universities can all apply for a Student Sponsor Licence, allowing them to sponsor a student. However, there are some exceptions in who can apply, for example some types of institutions including academies and state-funded schools are not eligible for a Student Sponsor Licence. Our expert team will be able to advise you on this in more detail.

To apply for a Student Sponsor Licence, you must:

  • Be a genuine education provider that has acceptable educational quality standards, and is operating lawfully in the UK.

  • Comply with all the appropriate rules and regulations.

  • Be considered eligible and suitable to hold a Student Sponsor Licence.

  • Be capable of carrying out your duties as a student sponsor.

  • Demonstrate that all of your sites meet acceptable educational quality standards and maintain these standards throughout the duration of your Student Sponsor Licence.
